Sergeant First Class Dwight R. Speight
SFC Dwight R. Speight, born in Birmingham, Alabama, was enlisted into the Army as a Private in November, 1976 as a senior in high school. He holds an AA from the University of Hawaii Pacific. SFC Speight also received an AA Degree in Business, Associate of General Studies Degree, BA of General Studies, BS in Marketing, and a BS in Management and Administration Degree from Columbia College, Huntsville, Al.
His military education includes: Basic Training, Advanced Individual Training, TOW Training, specialized in Anti-Armor Weapons Systems, Primary Non-Commission Officer Course, Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Warfare School, Unit Development Leadership Course, Recruiting School (2x), Basic Non-Commission Officer Training, Senior Non-Commission Officer Training, Station Commanders Course, Advanced Non-Commission Officer Training, and Army Guidance Counselors Course.
SFC Speight arrived at Lee High School on July 1, 1998 which combined with New Century Technology High School on August of 2012, after completing 21 years in the U.S. Army. With SFC Speight’s hard work and dedication, the JROTC Program received the Honor Unit in year 2000 and in 2008 received the Honor Unit with Distinction. SFC Speight’s philosophy for his students is to motivate, participate, communicate, become leaders within their community and their school, to motivate one another to succeed in life, and to never leave another individual behind.
SFC Speight’s awards/decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal ( 2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal with (3rd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (7th award), National Defense Medal, Non-Commission Officer Professional Development Numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Seas Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, U.S. Army Gold Recruiting Badge with 3 Sapphires, Recruiting Ring.
SFC Speight currently resides between two states Alabama and Tennessee with his wife Beverly and four children DeShundra, Domnique, Aubrey, and Brianna. He also has one very high strong puppy named Peppy Lamar Speight who is 9 months old.
